Fraud
email Alert! - Lately there has been a
significant increase in emails being sent to eBay users
that are SCAMS. WATCH OUT!
The emails look like they are from
eBay, but they are actually from dishonest people trying
to steal your money.
The worst of these scams sends
you an email that looks very much like an official message
from eBay, and usually says something like “account
suspension notice – unless
you respond, your account will be terminated in 24 hours”.
It then instructs you to click a link in the email that
looks like it goes to eBay, but actually takes you to another
site designed to fool you into thinking you are on eBay.
You are then asked to type in
your user ID and password to “verify your account”.
DANGER - DON’T TYPE IN
YOUR ACCOUNT INFORMATION UNLESS YOU ARE SURE YOU ARE
ON THE ACTUAL eBAY SITE!
If you receive an email like this,
report it to eBay at their reporting
link, and click the selection “Report fake
eBay emails (spoofs) and unauthorized account activity”.
Next, select “Fake or suspicious eBay email”,
then select one of the two remaining options.
